WELCOME

Please read through the services I offer and see if it's the kind of help you may be looking for, and if I may be the right fit for you.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions or doubts, as if this is your first time seeking therapy just know that it is natural to feel some nervousness and confusion. Also, I always suggest to people that finding a counsellor is like buying a new coat - keep trying one on until it feels right - and trust your feelings.

Areas Of Practice

I work with individuals, couples, families, teens and youth (aged 8+) who are struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, grief, relationship issues, or career and school difficulties.  I also strongly support first responders, a very difficult profession.

I use elements of the following therapies during our sessions:

CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (how we think)

DBT – Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (how we respond to our feelings and experiences)

Gottman Marriage Therapy for couples

Mindfulness (a way to manage our reactions to events and people)

Depression

Depression is difficult and exhausting. Depression can profoundly impact life and relationships by inducing emotional withdrawal, reducing intimacy, and causing communication breakdown.  It is important to get support when feeling like this.

Grief

When we lose a person or pet we love, grief can be all consuming. It is natural, but impacts us physically, emotionally, and cognitively. It often leads to symptoms like fatigue, weakened immunity, heart palpitations, and pain. Therapy can help with these symptoms.

Anger

Anger often comes from emotional pain and frustration. Unmanaged, it can act as a destructive force in relationships. As severe stress increases, it can lead to irrational decision making, and physical or emotional abuse. There are healthy solutions.

Are You New to Therapy & Counselling?

Maybe you've been thinking about it for a while but weren't sure where to start. Maybe you're just used to handling things on your own, pushing through, figuring it out by yourself.  Some things are hard, though, and tha approach doesn't always work.  Sometimes we just need someone to talk things through with.

Therapy isn't just about venting, and  it's not being told what to do, it's about getting tools and insight so you have a clearer idea of what's happening in your life, of what you really want, and how to manage your feelings so you can move forward.  I believe if we are heading in the right direction, that it's most important.

My counselling approach is collaborative and interactive. My hope is that after each counselling session, you leave with more awareness, wisdom, or tools that help you reach your goals. If you're feeling stuck, doubtful, worried about the future or struggling in a relationship, as we all do, then reach out for information about availability and rates.
